PASES Aqua’s Turtle Rescue Build Featured on 6PR’s The Long Lunch

A Project Years in the Making, Now on Air

Tod Johnston’s The Long Lunch on 6PR Perth ran a segment on WA Wildlife’s new turtle ICU, covering how the facility is lifting the standard of care for sick and injured sea turtles. Worth a listen: omny.fm — New turtle ICU providing enhanced care for sea turtles

What the segment doesn’t mention: PASES Aqua spent months designing and building the inland marine turtle rescue centre behind it, working directly with WA Wildlife’s veterinary team.

Why This Matters to Us

“I spent months designing and building an inland marine turtle rescue centre for the veterinarians at WA Wildlife.” — PASES Aqua

WA Wildlife’s Marine Turtle ICU launched in late 2024 as part of a five-year site redevelopment. It’s now one of the only purpose-built facilities of its kind in WA, treating turtles that would previously have had nowhere to go for intensive care.

Building it meant solving problems most pond and aquarium jobs don’t raise:

  • Water chemistry and temperature control tuned for stressed, injured marine reptiles, not display tanks
  • Systems built for rapid veterinary access — not just aesthetics
  • Filtration and circulation designed to hold up under ICU-level demands, day in, day out

The Bigger Picture

This is the same expertise PASES Aqua brings to every aquaculture, aquaponics, and custom aquatic build — whether it’s a backyard pond or a facility saving endangered sea turtles.
