Coptrol is a non-toxic new generation algaecide that is safe to use in drinking water sources. Effective in treating blue-green algae (cyanobacteria), filamentous algae, green slime algae and brown algae, coptrol is widely used in dams and water bodies to kill algae and prevent further growth.
Available per litre for efficient portioning, 1L of coptrol will treat 50-100,000L of water depending on severity of algae, and the required dose. For smaller tanks or ponds, 2-5mL of coptrol will treat 1000L.
Application:
To apply coptrol, dilute the measured volume of coptrol to 10-20 parts of water. This can be done in industrial sprayers, buckets, horticulture sprayers or anything to evenly distribute coptrol over the affected water. Application should be done on days with calm winds, and in waters warmer than 16 degrees to maximise effectiveness. For larger doses, coptrol can be directly trickled into flowing water, to gradually dose water where spraying isn’t practical, such as irrigation water or flood waters.
- 1L will treat 50,000 – 100,000L
- 1mL will treat 200 – 500L
Follow up treatments are not always necessary, but if severe algae is present and an initial dose is not effective, a second application can be administered after 10-15 days.
For ponds containing fish:Â
Coptrol can deplete oxygen in some conditions, which could be harmful for fish at high densities despite being non-toxic. For ponds containing fish, it is recommended to treat the edges of the ponds first, ensuring fish are not trapped in shallow areas, and to treat 1/3 of the water body at a time. Follow up treatments of the other sections of the pond can continue after 10-15 days.
